DRAPER MEMORIAL PARK AND CALZONE CELEBRATIONS

Thursday, November 11, 2021
Rain Date: Saturday, November 13

At Draper Memorial Park the event will honor veterans and active service members, celebrate Milford history, and commemorate completion of extensive repairs/enhancements to Draper Memorial Park, which transformed this memorial park that serves as a tangible monument to our veterans into a revitalized and accessible gathering place in our downtown area for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy.

Parade arrives at approximately 11:00 a.m

At Calzone Park the presentation will commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the unveiling of Milford’s Doughboy monument in memory of the veterans of the First World War. The monument was designed by Charles Caruso and cut by Vincent Cozzi in Milford’s Monti & Rossi monument yard. The statue was originally placed at Supple Square on November 11, 1921, and in 1932 it was moved to its current site on Round Pond Park. On October 8 of that year, during Columbus Day festivities, the park was dedicated and renamed Matthew Calzone Park in honor of the first Milford soldier who gave his life in the World War.

Parade arrives at approximately 10:30 a.m.
