Swimming Pool Regulations
- Must comply with zoning setbacks (1/2 the regular distance)
- In ground pool has to be 20 feet from leaching field (septic)
- Inground fence has to be 48" per State Building Code.
- Need plot plan or some type of sketch of pool area on property that should be submitted with the building permit, with side and rear dimensions to the lot line
- $10.00 per thousand or a $50.00 minimum - Swimming Pool Fee
- No fence, if pool 48" in height, around an above ground pool - ladder retractable or removable
- Fence foringround pool (if chain link) needs to be at least 1 1/4 mesh
- A pool can be located up against the house - no set distance from house
- Hot tubs: more than 250 sf surface area and 2 feet or more deeper, need a permit; cement pad for hot tub is covered by spa permit
- Corner lot: pool has to be 30 feet from lot line (both sides)
- Water garden: if under 250 sf and shallower than 2 feet, don't need a fence or permit
- Any in ground pool within 100 feet of a wetland, you have to file Determination of Applicability with the Conservation Commission
- Manmade deck - full setback distance on lot Deck/Fence supplied with pool - one half setback distance
